Crash when using DirectX11 in Unity

27 Aug 2013, 17:43

Hi,
My game project is using tesselation so i need to enable DirectX 11.
However when DirectX11 is enabled in Unity, when i hit play, if there is a NoesisGUI panel in the scene, it crashes.
I know that NoesisGUI uses DirectX9, but i did not think that mattered as NoesisGUI renders GUI by itself. So can you tell me if there is something that can be done to prevent this crash?
Thanks in advance.

DX11 is yet not supported and although we are a native plugin we use resources created by Unity (render targets, textures), we cannot mix dx9 with dx11.

hmm... does the tessellation work in GL? Because that could be a workaround.

Anyway we are working on this platform...

Hi,

I don't think that tesselation works with GL.

Well, I guess i will disable the tesselation for now because i would really like to get the GUI up and running.
Do you have an ETA for DirectX11 support?
Also, i would suggest you to indicate that DirectX11 is not supported yet on the Unity Asset Store page.

Yes, although it is indicated in the main post in Unity (linked from the asset store) you are right, this information should be added to text in the asset store.

We are working now in 64 bits platform but the work is almost done. Next priority is DX11 so I think you can expect a beta in half a month or so (may be even before).

In parallel, Linux port is being worked too.

And after that , Windows Store and Windows Phone are the next platforms.
