Roadmap Question

19 Jun 2019, 17:18

Good morning! Are there any plans to implement character spacing or character casing for TextBlock?

I notice that Unity's built-in UI/text system supports character spacing but this doesn't seem to be possible in Noesis. I'm just curious, thank you!

Thanks,
Shaun

An example, here is what I would want to do with a Character Spacing feature.

Noesis in Unity

You can see how the version with increased character spacing is more readable. I am wondering if I might be able to modify the font directly -- but I thought I would ask about the potential for such a feature first. FontStretch is an option for certain kinds of fonts, but this one in particular does not support it. UWP currently supports character spacing, as does Unity's new text system.

TextBlock.CharacterSpacing and TextBox.CharacterCasing properties are not part of WPF but we can probably add them as an extension the same we did with Text.Stroke.
Could you please add a couple of tickets to our bugtracker asking for that?

Thanks for your collaboration.

Thanks for creating the ticket for Character Spacing (#1500)

Regarding Character Casing, this could be done using an Interactivity Behavior right?
