Curved World Space UI

20 Sep 2023, 14:00

Hello,

Are there any plans to have a Curved World Space UI without having to render to texture? I really like the Transform3D feature and when rendering to texture this gets lost.

Something like this (but with preservation of Transform 3D features):

Thanks for answer!

Not immediate plans as this is not an easy task. It involves non-linear transformations to the 3D geometry, and in some cases (text, images) this has severe implications to our internal vector renderer.

Hello, just checking if you are maybe considering this a year later?

We haven't had the opportunity to consider this thoroughly yet, and implementing it without using render to texture would require significant changes to our architecture.

Could you please provide more details about your specific use case?

We are adding wide compound UI elements to our app, example would be a browser, or some hub of video thumbnails.
So naturally you start seeing stuff at an angle when they are too far left or right.
We considered breaking it up with Transform3D, but some parts have horizontally stacked buttons of different width, so it wouldn't look the best.

Will resort to rendering it into a texture, just wondered if you had any plans.

Yes, apologies, but we don't have specific plans for this in the upcoming versions.
