Noesis 3.2 Rive Questions

15 Mar 2023, 01:12

I'm working with an artist who can export to Rive.

I'm new to Rive and I notice that the Noesis 3.2 Rive example combines several Rive controls. The key frame animations appears to be surfaced in the XAML. I was thinking that the buttons and animations would be packaged into a single Rive file but I see this is not the case. Are there benefits to surfacing animation and buttons individually in XAML? With this example, were the buttons surfaced in XAML for layout reasons?

The reason I am asking is so that I can understand how to work with artists who are authoring in Rive. For example, am I likely to need all buttons and interactive elements exported as indivudal files or might they try to send a single scene that I connect events to?

We are still experimenting with Rive. In that example, we had to separate the leaves because we were applying a Blur effect to them. For the buttons, Noesis is rendering the text so we thought that having them as separate resources would be more intuitive. But, yes, this could be just a single rive if that works for you.

Happy to discover new creations about this from our clients. Also we are in close collaboration with Rive creators, the workflow and features will improve in subsequent versions.

Also, there's a problem with the lines. Since they're not polygons, they're not drawn. Compare the Rive screenshot and Unity output – focus on the lines below the eyes and mouth.

It's not a big deal for us right now, as we can draw lines with polygons, but I think it would be good to sync the appearance between Rive and Noesis as much as possible.

RE: RIVE Workflows. The primary goal for us is to work with artists using the tooling they are most comfortable with. Figma is quite popular. Since Rive does not include Noesis user controls, working in XAML becomes necessary. The VS Code plugin for Noesis is a great step in the right direction. The ideal solution does everything an artist needs within one tool. Our artist is available to beta if it is an option. Thank you!

Hello, I'm trying to use Noesis GUI in Unity3d for the Rive animations and got a problem. When rive animation doesn't have image assets, like in this example here (https://github.com/zplata/rive-noesis-unity-fps-demo) everything is ok. But when I'm trying to use image assets, they just don't render
