Suggestion when announcing new features

15 Jul 2024, 10:24

Heya!

I was browsing the Studio Download thread checking the latest release and I came across some cool new additions, such as Add ability to merge resource dictionaries into the GlobalResources.xaml and Add "Convert to Style" option. All super useful things. But it would also be great if with the release notes we also get a quick how-to or a step-by-step on where to find the features and how to use them. Right now, I'm not sure where I'd go to merge dictionaries into GlobalResources.xaml and it'd require some digging around from my side.

Cheers!

Hello!

At this stage, the software is still in alpha, which means things are a bit unstable and unfinished. Because of this, we are currently focusing all our efforts on development rather than documentation. We want to ensure that when we do start documenting, the information is accurate and stable, which will be more aligned with our beta release.

We have a few internal milestones before reaching beta and we also have plans to start providing documentation for the features available in these milestones.

Thanks a lot for the feedback.

Regarding the merge dictionary question, you can go to the Resources panel (Ctrl+6), hover over the GlobalResources.xaml entry under Application Resources, and click on the (+) menu. You will be able to merge a new dictionary or select one of the existing dictionaries in your project.

In this panel you can drag resources from/to elements and merged dictionaries to organize your resources as you want.

Happy to hear there are plans for providing accurate documentation!

And thank you Sergio for the quick step-by-step on merging dictionaries ^^
