Support of the [bind] rich text tag in Unreal.

14 Oct 2024, 16:01

Hello!
According to the documentation (https://www.noesisengine.com/docs/App.A ... hText.html), there is a very convenient way to reference a property of the current Data context using the following :
noesis:RichText.Text="The value is [bind]SomeValueProperty[/bind]".
However, the Rich text system implemented for Unreal doesn't seem to support that tag.
I have seen on the Unreal specific documentation that the suggested usage would be to bind to a text property and the do the insertion of the property on the code behind/Blueprint side if we have one but this is actually less convenient than being able to directly reference the desired property in the Rich text. Is there a more convenient way to reproduce this [bind] tag in Unreal?
Thank you!

Hi,

In Unreal each tag is mapped to a Style in Noesis, and you can specify any value for the setters in the style, even bindings. For example, setting the following string in the RichText.Text:
The value is <SomeValue/>
And having the style definition below:
<Style x:Key="SomeValue" TargetType="Run">
  <Setter Property="Text" Value="{Binding SomeValueProperty}"/>
</Style>
You will get the results you want, right?
