Dummy Noesis.dll for testing

14 Jan 2025, 22:48

Since I'm now close to finishing Caliburn.Noesis, it would ne nice to be able to to a CI run to make sure the library always compiles in the Blend project AND in Unity.
Is there such a thing as a dummy library for Unity that I can check into the repository to allow the build to run without putting Noesis in the repo?

You mean only for compiling? I don't think Noesis.dll is needed for compiling right? Only for execution

The project I'm hosting Caliburn.Micro in obviously has a dependency on Noesis. It uses noesis types. I have Noesis as a dependency configured in the package, so if you download it into a new Unity project with noesis already installed, everything is fine.

However in order to build a CI/CD chain for the Caliburn.Noesis project itself, I'd like to be able to build the Unity project. Obviously I cannot do that, unless Noesis is part of the repository, since otherwise Caliburn.Noesis will be missing its dependency and the Unity project won't compile. The blend project will compile just fine due to your nuget for those projects, but the Unity project won't since Noesis isn't part of the Repo.

Can't you use our C# NuGet? This doesn't include Unity, but it has everything else.

I think what might help here is for the Unity bits is to produce a reference assembly, and publish that in a nuget?

This is an awesome idea. I was not familiar with reference assemblies.
