| Summary | 0003593: Noesis startup stalling with inspector enabled while connected to VPN | ||||
| Description | There seems to be some issue/incompatibility between Noesis (3.2.3), macOS, and the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client. While I am connected to my company's VPN, the game startup stalls during Noesis::Init. The culprit appears to be the broadcast messages sent to announce the game to the inspector. It gets stuck here:
Disconnecting from the VPN fixes the issue. I added some debug logs (attaching them) and noticed that it's only one specific port (17647) that causes the issue. I could modify RemoteCommands.cpp to skip the last two ports (17647 and 17648), and that fixes it. (I am not entirely sure the "blame" lies entirely with Noesis given that I need to be in the VPN to reproduce this. But AFAIK sendto may just block, so Noesis probably needs to be able to handle this in a better way.) This might be a bit tough to reproduce on your end... | ||||
