Summary0004302: Applying An Effect Features Inconsistent Effect Option-Revealing Patterns
Description

Currently, when applying an Effect to an Element (eg: DropShadowEffect), on certain occasions, the Effect options are automatically expanded and displayed when the Effect is applied. Other times, the Effect options remain collapsed on application.

I have been unable to determine what the exact pattern is, other than it appears that the first time an Effect is applied after opening Studio, it auto-expands the Effect options.

Other than that, I am not entirely certain what action in the flow causes the auto-expansion of the options to no longer take place.

This is mostly challenging in terms of being able to convey universal instructions to users (eg: to set a DropShadowEffect Direction'', the instructions change depending on whether its the first Effect applied since the app launched).

With all of that said, I have been able to get a repro flow that can trigger both behaviours. (see 'Repro Steps' below).

See attached video. Its a slightly different scenario to the Repro Steps below, but features even more puzzling patterns around the rules of option expansion.

Repro Steps:

1) Close any currently-open Studio applications
2) Open Studio, and create a new Project containing a MainPage.xaml
3) Select the Root Grid on the Page, and in its Properties, from the 'Effect' Property, select 'DropShadowEffect'.
Observe how the DropShadowEffect options have automatically expanded to reveal them.

4) From the Add Element panel, click-and-drag a new Grid Element into the Root Grid of the Page.
5) Select the Grid introduced to the Page in Step 4), and in its Properties, from the 'Effect' Property, select 'DropShadowEffect'.
Observe how the DropShadowEffect options have not been automatically expanded and revealed this time.

Expected Results: Applying an Effect produces a consistent behaviour in terms of what it triggers in the Studio UI.
Expected Results: Applying an Effect always expands its options (users will invariably always want to customize at least one aspect of the Effect).
