| Summary | 0004824: In The Resources Panel, Color Search Results Get Cached And Don't Update If A Resource Is Renamed Whilst Searching | ||||
| Description | Currently, if a text search is performed within a Project's resources, it will return the results in the Panel below the browser. However, if any of the Color Resources returned in the search are renamed as part of the 'Search Results' portion of the Panel, the search results will not update to exclude the Resource whose new name should exclude it from Search Results. This does not appear to happen with DataTemplates, and many other Resource types however. See attached video. Repro Steps: 1) Open the Squad Sample, navigate to the Resources Panel, and select the GlobalResources Dictionary. 2) By scrolling through the Resources list (without using Search) identify the Color Resource named 'Color.001' and rename it to 'Orange'. 3) Use the search field at the top of the Panel and search for 'Orange'. 4) With the Search still active, rename 'Orange' to "Peach". 5) Observe how despite now being named 'Peach', the Color Resource continues to show as a result for a search for 'Orange'. Expected Results: Resource Search Results show accurate results which reflect the latest version of Color Resource names. | ||||

Should we allow in the first place to rename a resource in the search result list? |
I feel we should allow it; Windows Explorer allows it, and updates its search results accordingly. Another thing, is that I'm not entirely certain how we'd communicate to the user that they can't do a rename in this context. |
