| Description | We ran into an issue during today's workshop where we could not understand why we could not see the entire contents of Dictionaries when selecting the Dictionaries atop the Resources Panel. It turned out that it was because we had a search active. (See attached image for example). After discussion, this will come as a three-pronged approach: 1) When Searching, the top Section of the Resources Panel (containing the Resource Dictionaries), become collapsed. 2) Tooltips are added on-hover of any Resource, which displays their Resource Type, as well as which Resource Dictionary they are immediately a part of. 3) An option is added in the Resources right-click context menu reading 'Show in Resource Dictionary'. | ||||

Offloading original proposal to the comments as I will update the description with the solution we came up with in today's workshop: There are a couple of potential ways we could resolve this: 1) When a Search is active, don't show 'selected' states on Research Dictionaries (the bright blue highlight) until the Search is manually cleared. This could make it clear that this dictionary is not selected with the search active. 2) When a Dictionary is clicked with a search active; clearing the Search (this sounds risky, should likely discuss) 3) Creating a new entry under Application Resources named 'Search Results' that becomes active/selected when a Search is active (paired with exiting the search results when a Dictionary is selected). 4) I believe that at one point, we discussed changing the entire layout of this panel, so that the Filters, the Search, and the '+' (Add Resource) button were below the Browser, instead of above it, making it clear that these apply to the currently-selected Dictionary (above them) exclusively. Just some initial proposals, which we should discuss further. |

You're missing my proposal :P 5) When a search is active, hide the hierarchy of dictionaries, and only show the search result list. That way is impossible to select dictionaries in the hierarchy and be confused by the fact that the list of resources doesn't change (as the search is still active). |

I think my effort to keep a history/paper trail backfired here and caused some confusion -- the comment I made above your last comment was the old proposal. |
