After using "Make into", are you referring to the DataTemplate DataType picker?
Could you provide the exact steps and identify the panel/property where the problem occurs?

Yes, DataTemplate DataType picker.

In my case, I'm currently transitioning some StackPanels/Grids with all their content into default DataTemplates so what I do is (there are 2 scenarios):
A)

1. Create a new structure Base
2. Create a new structure Child
3. Open Based on drop down and there is no Base structure on the list. I need to restart Studio for it to show
   B)
4. Create structure Base and restarted Studio
5. Create Child2 and set the Based on to Base
6. Open the .xaml file and right click on the StackPanel/Grid, "Make into" -> "DataTemplate" and e.g. under the document root
7. Usually the make default will be disabled so I create a named one e.g. "Child2DataTemplate" (the name doesn't matter as we are going to make a default one)
8. Open Resources (Ctrl+5) tab and select the new DataTemplate
9. Click on the DataType dropdown and you will not find Child2, only Base
10. Restart Studio to get it and set it
11. I then set the DataType and then right click on the resource and convert it to a default resource

Which Studio version are you currently on?

I'm finding it difficult to repro this bug. Maybe it can be related to the project setup. Are you able to get a repro if you start with a clean project? If yes, would you mind attaching that example to this ticket?

I can confirm that the secondary issues are not present anymore. I've double checked. I've found out that I was on an older version before today and apparently Windows auto updated to the newest one (0.3.312-beta), so I think that was the case. Sorry for the trouble.

Although, I'd like to add that middle mouse button click on the dropdown doesn't reset the "Based on" to None

No problem. We'll take care of the missing search filter and the middle mouse button click then.
