| Summary | 0005325: Pressing ArrowDown Or ArrowLeft Skips The First Item In The Directional Navigation Grid | ||||
| Description | Currently, we offer a Directional Navigation mechanic that allows user to navigate between 'Focusable' Elements along the X and Y Axes. When playing a Page for the first time, with no Focus explicitly set within the Page, pressing the ArrowKeys in any direction, will enter 'Directional Navigation' Mode, and set focus on an Element in the array. However, the system suffers from some inconsistency in its functions starting from a fresh 'Play' of the Page: If pressing 'ArrowKeyUp', focus jumps to the first Element in the array from the Bottom. If pressing 'ArrowKeyLeft', focus jumps to the first Element in the Array from the Right. See attached video. Repro Steps: 1) Download, unzip, and open the attached 'InitialFocus' Studio Project with MainPage.xaml open. 2) Play the Page, and press ArrowKeyUp. 2) Stop the Page, then Play the Page again. 3) With the Page playing, press ArrowKeyDown. 4) Stop the Page, then Play the Page again. 5) With the Page playing, press ArrowKeyLeft. 6) Stop the Page, then Play the Page again. 7) With the Page playing, press ArrowKeyRight. 8) Stop the Page, then Play the Page again. 9) Press 'Space' on the Keyboard. Expected Results: Starting from a fresh runtime Play: the first Element in the array is always focused from the direction dictated by the first press of the ArrowKey. | ||||
