CollectionSortBehavior binding resulting in empty list displayed in Blend

24 Mar 2022, 17:37

The response to this forum post (viewtopic.php?t=2168) suggests using CollectionSortBehavior for displaying sorted lists, since CollectionView is not supported.

This works well in C++ in Noesis, but the list that is being displayed in Blend is completely empty, even though the source list in the data context is populated.

It is stated in the Noesis documentation that the Noesis Blend extensions are mostly empty implementations, so I suspect that this is why it doesn't work in Blend. We don't need to have the sorting functionality in Blend, but we do need to be able to preview the data in the list in a ListView or similar, while still binding the ListView's ItemsSource to the output of the CollectionSortBehavior so that we get the correct behavior in the C++ code.

Without having to implement the actual sorting behavior to work in Blend, would it be possible to at least make the CollectionSortBehavior output fall back to the source of the CollectionSortBehavior? This way we would be able to preview the data in Blend (but without sorting), and get the sorted lists in the real application.

Hi, could you please report this in our bugtracker?
We should provide working implementations of those behaviors in our extensions nuget to correctly visualize the UI in Blend.

Thanks! And sorry for the delay these days, part of the team is still coming back from GDC in San Francisco.
