Animation looks different from Blend (lost keyframes)

17 Jun 2023, 08:26

I have a very simple jittery animation here for a rectangle. All keyframes at "0:0:0.x5" are being ignored by NoesisGUI in Unreal Engine. So for a sequence of [0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25, 0.3] the 0.15 and 0.25 are dropped.

Full anim code below.
<Storyboard x:Key="Anim.Spawn">
                <ColorAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="(Shape.Stroke).(SolidColorBrush.Color)" Storyboard.TargetName="rectangle">
                    <DiscreteColorKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.1" Value="White"/>
                </ColorAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
                <DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="(FrameworkElement.Height)" Storyboard.TargetName="rectangle">
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.1" Value="500"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.15" Value="100"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.2" Value="800"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.3" Value="100"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.35" Value="800"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.4" Value="1100"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.45" Value="100"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.5" Value="1100"/>
                </DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
                <DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="(FrameworkElement.Width)" Storyboard.TargetName="rectangle">
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.1" Value="500"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.15" Value="100"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.2" Value="800"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.3" Value="100"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.4" Value="1100"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.45" Value="100"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.5" Value="1953"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.6" Value="0"/>
                </DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
                <DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="(Shape.StrokeThickness)" Storyboard.TargetName="rectangle">
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.3" Value="201"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.4" Value="124"/>
                    <DiscreteDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.5" Value="23"/>
                </DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
            </Storyboard>

Re: Animation looks different from Blend (lost keyframes)

Hi, I think there is a bug when the Stroke is bigger than the shape. The following is not rendering anything in Noesis:
<Grid
  xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
  xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml">
  <Rectangle Width="100" Height="100" Fill="Red" Stroke="Black" StrokeThickness="100"/>
</Grid>
Could you please report it in our bugtracker?

If you leave the Stroke value to 1 the animation should work fine, can you verify that?
