Crash Reporting
Just wondering if crashes from studio are being automatically sent or if I should be reporting them somehow? Encountered at least 20 or so since testing it yesterday, want to make sure they'll be available to the developers somehow.
Re: Crash Reporting
After the crash, a Crash Reporting dialog should appear, allowing you to enter details and submit the report to our servers.
Do you see this dialog?

Re: Crash Reporting
Nope, no dialog appears.
When I first ran Studio I had to allow running an untrusted .exe, but hadn't done this for the App.CrashReporter.exe, so I wonder if that blocked it from executing?
I also can't see App.CrashReporter.exe running under App/StudioTool in task manager, although I'm not sure if it is meant to all the time or if it just triggers on crash.
I'll see what happens next crash and see if manually running the crash reporting .exe to allow it fixed the problem.

Re: Crash Reporting
App.CrashReporter.exe is only executed when there is a crash.
When a crash happens:
1. A new dmp is created in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Temp\Noesis\Dumps
2. App.CrashReporter.exe is executed for sending this created dmp to our server
Could you please have a look at your Dumps folder?

Re: Crash Reporting
So it seems the launcher is not executing... could you please invoke it manually to see what happens? Something like (please don't click on send):
Also could you share all your dumps in a ticket?
If you also have a way to consistenly crash studio please let us know about the steps.
Thanks a lot for helping!
Code: Select all
App.CrashReporter.exe --application Test --version 0.0.0 --dump C:\Users\Jesus\AppData\Local\Temp\Noesis\Dumps\20250101_000000.dmp

Re: Crash Reporting
When I run the crash reporter manually, it works fine- comes up with what I assume is the normal interface that allows me to send the report.
Again, not sure if it got blocked previously as the .exe was untrusted- I'll see what happens next time there is a crash.
I don't currently have a license (still evaluating the engine and studio) so I don't think I can open a support ticket, but if I do ahead with a license I'll do that once I have one.

Re: Crash Reporting
Actually I see there is a public tracker so I uploaded the dumps in a ticket there- https://www.noesisengine.com/bugs/view.php?id=4013
Re: Crash Reporting
Thanks for the ticket! The team is already working on it.
What intrigues me is why the reporter didn't open it. It is a signed binary. Please let me know if this happens again.

Re: Crash Reporting
for me it also happened a couple times (no reporter after crash, although dumps were created) (but all other dozens of times it was shown as it should be)What intrigues me is why the reporter didn't open it. It is a signed binary. Please let me know if this happens again.
