Issue with Emoji Rendering in NoesisGUI TextBox on iOS
I'm encountering an issue when using the iOS emoji keyboard in a NoesisGUI TextBox (integrated with Unity). Emojis typed into the TextBox do not render correctly, and the following error appears in the Xcode debug log:
could not find emoji search engine resources for locale 'emoji'
Interestingly, the same emoji renders just fine when displayed in a standard TextBlock.
Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions for resolving the issue or correctly configuring emoji support in TextBox? FWIW, I'm attemping to use the TwemojiFont resource.

This is a Noesis TextBox right? What happens if you set the content in the XAML with that emoji, does it render correctly? Something like:
Code: Select all
<Page
xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml">
<Grid>
<TextBox Text="HELLO😀" />
</Grid>
</Page>
Re: Issue with Emoji Rendering in NoesisGUI TextBox on iOS
Yes, right, it’s a Noesis TextBox.
When I set the emoji directly in the XAML, as in your example, it renders correctly—the emoji displays as expected when hardcoded into the Text property.
The issue seems to occur specifically when inserting emojis at runtime using the iOS software keyboard. When I try to input an emoji manually, it either doesn’t appear at all or behaves as if no input was registered.
I’ve just sent over a quick video of the issue to your email for your reference.

It is interesting because it seems Emojis are not properly added to the preview TextBox rendered by Unity.
Are you able to reproduce this using UnityUI?

Re: Issue with Emoji Rendering in NoesisGUI TextBox on iOS
Ah, it seems to work after installing TextMeshPro’s Essential Resources. I had assumed that wouldn’t be necessary since input was being handled through Noesis. After installing the TMP resources and assigning an emoji sprite to UnityUI’s InputField, emoji input now works correctly in both UnityUI’s InputField and Noesis’ TextBox when using the iOS keyboard.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
