Best way to create VFX animation in Studio
Hi Noesis Studio Team,
First of all, thank you for creating such a powerful UI creation tool! However, I am new to Noesis Studio and have 0 knowledge in coding. I am learning this tool from scratch so I hope that I am asking the right question and not being confusing!
I wonder what will be the best way (optimise to performance) to achieve VFX animation within Noesis Studio, as the attached image you can see there is some light ray covering the full screen - I wonder how I can recreate similar effects that is responsive to screen size and reusable? I would also love to know how to create a small VFX (like the little VFX celebration for button).
Thanks in advance!

Hi!
Thanks so much for your kind words, we’re really glad to hear you’re enjoying Noesis Studio!
We’d love to help you achieve those VFX animations. Would it be possible for you to share a short video (or multiple clips) showing the kinds of animations you're aiming to replicate? That way, we can give you more targeted advice and show you how to recreate those effects efficiently using Noesis Studio,
Looking forward to seeing what you have in mind!

Re: Best way to create VFX animation in Studio
Hi jsantos,
Thanks for your quick reply! Here are the 3 VFX I am trying to achieve - SpeedLine (looping, created in AE), Radical Charge Transition (scalable so the vfx won't be limited by retangular screen) and Electricity Down (colourable, so they can use in different context with different colours). The Radical Charge and Electricity Down will get proper licensing so no worry about the legibility!
I imagine that for the speedline, I will use shape tool to create a lot of strokes in component, and animating a few frames in storyboards? I would love to know if there is any universal approach to general VFX too, as I am not sure what VFX will be used for the rest of the project I am working on.
If any of them require the actual coding - please let me know as well! I am currently only handling the UI bit with Noesis Studio, it will be nice to know how to communicate with the coding team and pass the files on.

Re: Best way to create VFX animation in Studio
Your best options for VFX in Studio right now are:
- Using shader brushes
- Using video
- Using sprites and atlases

Hi Jsantos,
Thanks for the reply! It seems like that flipbook-style will be the best approach for now, I wonder if there is any performance trade-off between using video or sprites? And also. I am currently implementing VFX with 'path' and changing their visibility in storyboard - which is the same way with using sprites, but I use vector path instead of a sprite sheet. I wonder if that will affect performance significantly?

Re: Best way to create VFX animation in Studio
Your technique of using vectors instead of sprites will give you better quality (crisper visuals). We recommend using vectors by default, and only optimizing later if you encounter performance issues on your target platform, which is unlikely.
Sprites are better than video for short clips because videos have a small startup overhead that sprites don't. Additionally, sprites support transparency, which is tricky with most current video formats.

Hi jsantos,
Thanks for the quick and concise answer! It helps a lot in terms of implementation :) I will mark your answer as solution to close off the topic.
