Textbox Input Field Goes Full Screen on Android after Unity 2022.3.29 -> 2022.3.61 Upgrade
Hello everyone,
I’m hoping to get some help with an issue I’m facing after upgrading my project from Unity 2022.3.29 to 2022.3.61. As this could be a Unity issue, I've also cross-posted this on a Unity board in case
The Problem: Whenever a textbox receives focus on an Android device, the native keyboard’s input field now takes over the entire screen, meaning the caret appears behind the opened keyboard making it difficult to see what is typed. What it did prior, was have a single-line white bar appearing above the native keyboard. See the attached picture for a visualization of a before and after comparison.
My Troubleshooting Steps:
- I attempted to modify the AndroidManifest.xml file with android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustResize" and android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustPan" on the main activity, but this had no effect.
- I've tried setting a fixed height on the textbox (only it's parent had a height prior), but this only sets it's non-focused height. When focused, I still receive the large white input appearing behind the keyboard.
- I've tried modifying the NoesisUnity.cs file's Open() that gets called on keyboard focus to set TouchScreenKeyboard.hideInput to true, but nothing is still changed.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any insights or workarounds would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I’ll look into this, though we don’t have control over the native keyboard’s input field that Unity renders.
Have you had a chance to try this in more recent versions (2023, 6.0, or 6.1)?

Thank you for the quick reply and for taking a look.
Upgrading the Unity version is cumbersome for the project's current state so I haven't seen what the keyboard would look like on more recent versions, but if this additional info helps, it seems to only affect android. On IOS, the keyboard works the same as it had.

I haven't been able to reproduce this in any of my current installations (2023.2.20f1, 6000.1.14f1, 6000.2.5.f1).
Did you get any response about this?As this could be a Unity issue, I've also cross-posted this on a Unity board in case

No answer from unity. Only happen on android. iOS is fine. We tried a build before the update vs after and the unity upgrade broke it. I don't see anything in our changes link to noesis that could create that problem. (Noesis Version 3.2.7)

The latest version of 2022.3 is 2022.3.67f1, could you try updating to that one? I noticed a few keyboard-related fixes in the release notes, though nothing that seems to match this issue exactly.
Could you also confirm whether simply changing the Unity version (with no other modifications) is enough to break the keyboard for you?
Finally, could you try testing with a clean installation of Noesis in one of our samples (for example, Login)?
