Animating between FontWeights
Hey all,
I'm wondering - since the latest update now lets you use numerical values to set a font weight in xaml - if it's possible to use this to animate between font weights smoothly (preferably without causing any errors in Blend, but I know that's a big ask).
Thanks in advance! :)

Re: Animating between FontWeights
Apart from performing this in discrete steps, as shown in #4841, it is not currently possible to smoothly animate the font weight.
There are plans to expose the axes of variable fonts as standard properties that can be animated in XAML or Noesis Studio, however, this approach will not be compatible with WPF/Blend.
Currently, in our technology, every glyph is SDF-rasterized into an atlas. Smoothly animating these properties would require re-rasterizing and updating the atlas for each frame, which could be inefficient when applied to many glyphs. Depending on your requirements, a more efficient approach may require rendering glyphs as vectors directly to the screen, similar to how we render other shapes. This is not implemented.
