Why is the Items Presenter fuchsia pink?

31 Jul 2026, 18:18

I upgraded to studio 0.4.321 yesterday to discover that combo box drop down menu is now rendered with fuchsia pink color. Beyond that problem, the choices are now centered (used to be left justified) and it displays "Label:" in front of every choice. Maybe you can steer me in the right direction to fix these problems? Thanks, -Jeremy

Hey Jeremy, Dorian here,

First of all, this is absolutely nothing you've done wrong. In fact, you've been doing all the right things always being updated to the latest build.

We'll be putting out an official post about this soon, but I do want to resolve this immediately for you; so I'll explain what's going on:

ABOUT

Up until this version of Studio, we included our default 'Noesis Theme' behind-the-scenes, and it was used as a base styling for all of our Elements.
This is for example what informs that a default Button you drag onto the Stage, has a grey background, goes blue when clicked, etc...

However, the issue is that in the Runtime, these themes have always needed to be manually Merged to be accessible, and to benefit from many of these same pre-made Element visuals.

Because of this. in the default development experience, we ended up with a very problematic mismatch between what is seen on-screen between Studio and the Runtime.

For all new Studio Projects created in this version and beyond, no action is required as the Merging operation is automatically performed.

However, this does affect 'legacy' Projects originally created before this version, and then opened in the latest version of Studio; in which case, the Merging needs to be manually performed once per Project.

----------

HOW TO FIX THIS

Luckily, the resolution for these 'legacy' projects is super quick, easy and straightforward; just open your GlobalResources.xaml in any text editor, and paste the following snippet into the very first line of its body, just below the header declaration:
<ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries>
     <ResourceDictionary Source="/Noesis.GUI.Extensions;component/Theme/NoesisTheme.DarkBlue.xaml"/>
</ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries>
Here's an image showing where this goes in context of the file:

This one is totally on us, apologies for creating this moment; unfortunately a bit of a case of having to rip the band-aid off to solve a bigger issue that we needed to nip in the bud whilst we still had the chance.

As always, let us know how this works for you, and if there's anything else at all.

- Dorian

A bit more information is available in the Global Resources section of the Studio Integration document.
In previous versions of Studio, the DarkBlue theme was applied implicitly by the editor. While convenient, this occasionally led to rendering discrepancies between Studio and the runtime, as the active theme was not explicitly declared in the project files. To guarantee complete transparency and visual consistency, this implicit behavior has been removed. If you are upgrading an existing project and rely on the default Noesis Theme instead of custom styles, you must now explicitly merge it into your global resources dictionary.
