Unreal Engine 5.8 workflow with external XAML files
I'm testing out the 4.0 RC with Unreal Engine 5.8.1 on macOS
Is it a supported scenario for the XAML files to live outside my UE project directory? I can only successfully import XAML files when they are in the same directory (or subdirectory) of the .uproject file. It just crashes the Unreal editor when I try to import a XAML file from anywhere else.
I noticed that if I try to create a Studio project with the plugin in Unreal Editor and select a folder outside of the Unreal project directory, it logs a warning 'projects must be contained within the Unreal project folder', so is it intentional that importing external XAML files doesn't work at all?

Re: Unreal Engine 5.8 workflow with external XAML files
The plugin supports importing xamls from anywhere outside the Unreal project, I just verified and import is working with the latest RC. If you still crash it, could you please create a ticket and attach the dump of the crash?
But as you mentioned, when creating a Studio project from Unreal we are checking if it is placed inside Unreal's project. This is done to configure an "Auto Reimport" entry to map Studio sources and Unreal content. I think we can do better and support any location for Studio projects too, by using absolute paths for mapping if a relative path can't be used. Could you create a ticket for this feature also?

Re: Unreal Engine 5.8 workflow with external XAML files
With 4.0 RC1 Unreal plugin, I was able to successfully import a couple XAML files from the samples projects. Nice!Is it a supported scenario for the XAML files to live outside my UE project directory? I can only successfully import XAML files when they are in the same directory (or subdirectory) of the .uproject file. It just crashes the Unreal editor when I try to import a XAML file from anywhere else.
I created this issue (https://www.noesisengine.com/bugs/view.php?id=5172) for the project path directory.
One thing you might consider warning or documenting is that the Auto Reimport configured by the plugin does not exclude any directories, so when I created a Studio project in the same directory as my Unreal project, it included monitoring all the non-content intermediate files and caches and such. This is done to configure an "Auto Reimport" entry to map Studio sources and Unreal content.

Thanks for the ticket and that observation about the auto reimport, I will add it to the ticket so we take into account.
