Linux linking issue with Unreal plugin 4.0.0rc1

14 Aug 2026, 17:08

Hi this is probably not a bug with NoesisGUI but a setup issue on our end.
We are evaluating upgrading Noesis from 3.2 to 4.0 and as part of that integration I modified the plugin file structure.

As a mistake, we had the sample project included in the plugin so our file structure looked like:
/Engine/Plugins/NoesisGUI/Plugins/Source/Noesis/NoesisSDK/
I removed that and cleaned up the structure to only include the plugin and exclude the sample projects
/Engine/Plugins/NoesisGUI/Source/Noesis/NoesisSDK/
(note the extra Plugins folder is removed) which works fine. Except for packaged Linux server builds, it's for reason trying to load libNoesis.so using the old path with the extra Plugins folder and failing to boot. If I add back that Plugins folder in the packaged build to change the structure to
/Engine/Plugins/NoesisGUI/Plugins/Source/Noesis/NoesisSDK/Bin/linux_x86_64/libNoesis.so
it "fixes" the issue. I can't for the life of me find out why it's trying to find libNoesis.so there. I verified all the Noesis build files and tried looking for stray files but could not find any. I can't find any references to the old file structure and GenerateProjectFiles.bat does not do anything. I don't know what's holding onto that old file structure but it is very stubborn.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Further investigation it seems like Noesis.Build.cs is adding the correct path to RuntimeDependencies "\Plugins\NoesisGUI\Source\Noesis\NoesisSDK\Bin\linux_x86_64\libNoesis.so". I don't know where this rogue "\Plugins\NoesisGUI\Plugins\Source\Noesis\NoesisSDK\Bin\linux_x86_64\libNoesis.so" load is coming from

Have you already deleted any Intermediate folders inside the NoesisGUI directory, and maybe also in your Unreal project. Could you verify that?
