Summary0005249: Unreal Engine 5.8.2 crash when adding a view to umg widget
Description

I am not able to add a view to an umg widget at all. The engine always crashes as soon as I drop the widget (dragging from the palette) into any slot inside the umg widget. This is reproducible using a fresh unreal engine 5.8.2 project.

Changes that did not (!) fix the issue:

  • Move the plugin into the engine (instead of having it inside the Game/Plugins-Folder)
  • Removing all my own engine plugins that were enabled for all my projects
  • Using a view from the Samples instead of my own (simple) view that I created
  • Blueprint-Project instead of C++ Project
  • Fresh Project

Either this is a real bug or I'm doing something wrong, but a crash should definitly not happen in my opinion - even if I am doing something wrong. The view does work (!) when I try the "Add to Viewport" (right-click on the asset in the content browser). The crash report (it's not very useful) is attached below.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a fresh unreal engine (5.8.2) blueprint project with the "blank" template.
  2. Navigate to that project folder, create a plugins folder and move the "NoesisGUI" + "Samples" folders into the created "plugins" folder.
  3. Open the project (if necessary: enable the plugin and restart).
  4. Add a Widget Blueprint to the project (location does not matter).
  5. Open the Widget Blueprint, search for the "Login View" in the palette, drag and drop it onto the Widget Tree (Hierarchy) below (like you'd do with every other component that you want to add to the widget).
  6. Expected: View is added to the Widget. Actual: Engine crashes.

if you need further information please let me know.
