Noesis DLL Crash on Alt-Tab to Unity or Play Clicked

29 Apr 2019, 17:59

I am using 2.2.2. With 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 I am now getting Unity hard crashes every 5 minutes. Unity is not creating a crash dump file. The last thing in the log file is:
Refresh: detecting if any assets need to be imported or removed ...

Refresh Completed time: 0.239306s
Asset Scan time: 0.235643s
Asset Hashing: 0.000000s [0 B, 0.000000 mb/s]
Asset Import (Scripting) time: 0.000000s (count: 0)
Post Processs Assets (Scripting) time: 0.000000s
Asset Rehashing: 0.000000s [0 B, 0.000000 mb/s]
Asset Import (Non Scripting) time: 0.000000s (count: 0)
Post Process Assets (Non Scripting) time: 0.000000s
Dependent Assets to Import Queue time: 0.000000s

Reloading assemblies for play mode.
Begin MonoManager ReloadAssembly
Each time an editor crash occurs the log text above is written. I have Noesis logging set to normal.

I don't have a crash dump to share. Is there a way to fix or work-around this behavior? It is random but is happening every 5 minutes. I have re-opened the Editor about 50 times this morning.

* edit. I meant to post this in General Discussion. Please feel free to move it or delete and I'll recreate. Thank you!

Re: Crashing Hard, Often

Things I have tried (so far):
  • Disabling Preferences -> General -> Auto Refresh.
Disabling Preferences -> General -> Script Changes While Playing -> Recompile After Finished Playing.
I'll update this list as I try new things.

*edit. Happens 100% of time when I alt-tab back to Unity.

I need some way to disable Noesis from updating assets, assuming it is related.

With Visual Studio debugger attached to Unity.exe, this is the fatal exception that is trapped:

Here's the Editor dump file w/o heap when I was attached.

I'll recreate in a ticket. It's OK to delete this thread after the ticket is created, since I seemed to create it in announcements instead of discussion. Sorry about that.

After the editor plays once... the following will crash the editor with Noesis.dll throwing the fatal exception. Minimize, Maximize, Play.
